D E S C R I P T I O N: Court Watch NOLA’s mission is to promote greater efficiency, transparency and procedural fairness in Louisiana criminal courts through citizen involvement and courtroom observation. STUDENT ACTIVITIES: INTERN POSITION:8-10 hours per week.Student intern is responsible for doing research on best practices to promote court efficiency, transparency, and procedural fairness.This research will include a focus on national and state victim’s rights and constitutional law.The student intern will also be expected to observe Orleans Criminal District Court, Magistrate Court and Municipal Court. PRO BONO VOLUNTEER: 50 hours semester minimum.Attend training (2 half-days in court with supervisor). Pro Bono student will track felony cases in Crim District Court. Daily and visible presence helps identify systemic problems while sending the message that our community cares about making the courts more accountable and just. TRAINING: On-the-job. SCHEDULE: Weekday hours
